In this article it mainly told the readers on how the thought to be safe, electronic cigarettes, could be a health risk to the human body. E-cigarette, (electronic cigarette) were made a few years ago to help tobacco cigarette smokers, lose their addiction to the cigarettes. The give you a pleasure when in use, and this was thought to be a safe and pleasing pleasure when e-cigarettes were first released. However, recently scientists have discovered that when breathing in the “vapor” of the e-cigarette, you are taking in toxic chemicals into your body, and into your lungs. This includes the chemical carcinogens, which can make bacterial infections that are impossible to be cured by antibiotics. There are also other chemicals and solvents that enter your body while using e-cigarettes, some that may even cause cancer.
This article is very important to society because it will prevent those from reading to using e-cigarettes as a solution to quit smoking. There are many healthier solutions for quitting, and electronic cigarettes are not one of them. I chose this article because I had heard about e-cigarettes in the past, and always thought of them as a great invention, and a positive solution to quit smoking. When I saw the title of this article I was thrown off guard and wanted to look into detail on how e-cigarettes could cause harm to the body.
Some critiques that I have about this article are that it didn’t explain how an electronic cigarette worked. Some who would have clicked on this article would not have known how an e-cigarette worked and what it was even used for. The article just went straight into talking about all the chemicals and scientific stuff without much background information. Another critique I had was that it got more and more confusing as it went on. The beginning was very clear and I got the main idea, but as it went on I had to re-read a lot of information. All together it was a very interesting and informational article

  1. In his review of the article "Health Risks of E-Cigarettes Emerge," George did a fantastic job of giving background information on the issue by explaining the general reasons behind the use of e-cigarettes. George also explained the detrimental effects of e-cigarette use, such as antibiotic resistant infections in the lungs and cancer, which aided the reader's understanding of the issue. Finally, George did a good job of explaining the relevance of the topic, citing the decline of traditional cigarette smoking and subsequent increase in demand for alternative nicotine products, as well as his own misunderstanding of the consequences of e-cigarette use.
Although George's background information was strong, the presence of frequent grammatical errors distracted from the arguments in his review. Finally, a quote from the article would have greatly enhanced George's summary and would have given the reader a sense of the author's tone and argument.
George's review was extremely relevant to society and educated me on the dangers of e-cigarette use. Like George, I originally believed that e-cigarettes were not harmful, but I'm glad learned otherwise. This information is important for all people to know because it affects their health and wellbeing.

George’s review "Health Risks of E-cigarettes Emerge” gave good facts and information explaining why electronic cigarettes are in fact bad and harmful. For example he explained how the vapor has toxic chemicals that are breathed into your lungs. He also explains that some of the chemicals can potentially cause cancer. His overall point is that electronic cigarettes are harmful and are not a good way to get over an addiction to cigarettes because they come with their own risks, even though they bring pleasure like cigarettes to addicts.
I chose to read George’s review because I know how popular electronic cigarettes are and I think this is an important topic to have people read and learn about. I believe that George could have improved his review by reading over it and fixing the grammatical and writing errors he made because it was a little hard to read. He also could have gone into more detail about the alternatives to electronic cigarettes since this would benefit those who are reading the review and want to search for an alternative.
I learned a lot from this review, I didn’t know that electronic cigarettes had such harmful effects on people. This will make me think different of electronic cigarettes and turn me off from ever touching them.

In George’s article review, he did a good job of summarizing the article. He included in his summary what E-cigarettes are, which is helpful for the reader in case they do not know what they are beforehand. In addition, George did a good job of connecting the article topic to society. He stated that many people believe resorting to E-cigarettes is a safe way to quit smoking, but how the article disproves this myth. Lastly, George did a good job of explaining why E-cigarettes are harmful by stating that they can cause bacterial infections in the lungs by the inhalation of toxic chemicals and potentially cause cancer due to carcinogens.
On the other hand, I think George could have improved his review by editing the grammatical errors throughout his review. For example, he says “the” when he means “they” in the first paragraph. In addition, I think George could have elaborated when he said, “there are many healthier solutions for quitting.” If he had provided alternatives for smokers that want to quit, his article review would have been extremely beneficial to that specific audience.
I chose to read George’s review because of the title. I have always thought that E-cigarettes could not be good for you, but I did not know exactly why. Once I saw the article title, I immediately wanted to read it in order to further my understanding on the topic. I learned that despite popular belief, E-cigarettes can be detrimental to your health and therefore should be avoided. From now on, I can help to spread this message when someone mentions E-cigarettes as a healthy alternative to smoking the generic cigarette.

There were many positive aspects of George’s review of the article "Health Risks of E-cigarettes Emerge." George provided insightful background information on the subject, which gave rise to a very well rounded summary. Second, George’s summary of the article was very thorough and incorporated all relevant details from the article. For instance, George’s explanation of the negative effects of e-cigarette use (including a greater antibiotic resistance) was very well written. Lastly, George did a good job of connecting this article to society: while many believe that e-cigarettes are a safe way to quit smoking, it is clear that the contrary is true, and that this message must therefore be spread.

There were, however, multiple negatives in George’s review. The multitude of grammatical errors distracted from the topic and undermined his credibility on the subject. Second, incorporating a quote from the article or outside studies would have also brought more credibility to the review. With these minor fixes, George would certainly elevate the level of his review and spark more insightful thought in the mind of the reader.

This review was indeed quite informative. Prior to reading the review and the article, I had no idea of the extent of the harmful effects e-cigarettes imposed on people. The review is certainly very relevant to society, where e-cigarette use is increasing almost exponentially. It is important that this essential information is spread so that people become aware of these grave effects.
