In Hannah’s review of the article
“Savoring Bogs and Moose, Fearing They’ll Vanish as the Adirondacks Warm”, she
was able to explain very directly the problem that was being looked at. Hannah
made it quite clear that global warming is threatening the future of the
environment of the Adirondack Mountains. Hannah was also able to connect this
article to everyday life in a way that was very easy to comprehend by
explaining that the Catskills are part of the Adirondacks and are very close to
Westchester. This made me feel like if something wasn’t done about this
problem, I would have to deal with the repercussions. In her review, she also
explained all the problems that people who depend on the environment of the
Osgood River have had to deal with already, and how if gone unchecked, global
warming could be another hurdle in their lives.
Although
overall the article was very informative with a great personal touch, there
were some noticeable flaws. There are many spelling mistakes throughout the
article, which, in addition to the already choppy structure of the sentences,
made reading the article a bit difficult. Hannah could also have included less
on Jerry Jenkins, and more on the problem that was the title of the article.
This
article informed me of the dangers of global warming. Living in this area of
the world, I have not noticed that many signs of its occurrence locally, but
this article contains a warning that, if emissions aren’t cut down, the effects
will start to be seen.
